Job Title: Pilot Plant Materials Technician

Reporting to: CRD API Process Supervisor Lead

We are seeking a Inventory Management Technician to join our Process Development Facility (PDF), an active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) Manufacturing Pilot Plant. The PDF is located in Sandwich England and is part of Worldwide R&D’s Medicinal Science team responsible for the development of process technology for the production of clinical API.

Under the limited guidance and direction of the API Manufacturing Materials Superuser, the core role is to ensure the delivery, distribution and subsequent return of all processing materials into API-M production areas to ensure production runs smoothly. This is a critical role to allow the facility to maximises its capacity and successfully manufacture API for Pfizer’s development portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand and comply with all policies and procedures relating to inventory management within API-M. Perform clerical and physical task in connection with all facets of material handling activities including but not limited to:

  • Verification of materials received by visual inspection and comparison against technical documents
  • Storage of material in a variety of environments (vertical racking systems, cold storage)
  • Staging and distribution of materials per end-user requests, picking of raw and packaging materials to fulfil batch requests
  • Delivery of materials to processing modules to ensure correct materials are available at point of use.
  • Return all unused materials to stores from PDF Modules and Work in Progress Stores.
  • Removal of all empty containers from processing areas and preparing all documentation for their off-site disposal.

Perform clerical and physical task in connection with various facets of plant equipment including but not limited to:

  • Delivering clean mobile equipment to processing modules as required by Pilot Plant Technicians
  • Cleaning and return of mobile equipment to stores

Responsible for the sampling and testing of commodity raw materials using spectroscopic techniques and, working closely with GMP analysts, approves material for “General Use”. Enters data and retrieves data from electronic inventory data systems. Prepares and keeps accurate records for all goods received, distributed and shipped. Enforces good housekeeping standards within all the production and warehouse areas including mobile equipment stores, staging and dispensing areas, production modules etc. Performs inventory maintenance tasks such as cycle counts and space optimization to ensure inventory is accurate and controlled. Ensures that a “First In First Out” approach is taken to inventory management wherever possible. Assists API-M Material Superuser in the shipment of chemical samples against requestors shipping documentation.

Education:

Required

  • Proven experience in inventory management within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.

Desired

  • HND or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and EH&S practices is highly desired.
  • Fork Lift Truck Trained
