ROLE SUMMARY

Manager/TL - Transportation Operations role is responsible for 24/7 receipt, storage, and movement of materials in support of Pfizer Kalamazoo Supply Chain Operations.  This role provides supervision of hourly warehouse colleagues and ensures all transportation/warehouse operations are conducted in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) following all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in compliance with all regulatory requirements (i.e. FDA, DEA, DOT, HAZMAT, EPA, etc.). The role also coordinates and manages all personnel activities for their team to ensure appropriate staffing coverage in the department including hiring, on-boarding, training, performance management (annual cycle and special circumstances), workload balancing, and colleague development.  The scope of the support includes drug product and active pharmaceutical ingredient operations.    

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises hourly warehouse personnel [truck drivers, logistics operators, technicians/specialists] responsible for performing transportation and warehouse duties.

  • Enables successful execution in the delivery of goods to support manufacturing activities.

  • Provides oversight and ensures inventory accuracy as it relates to the entry of transactions, periodic cycle counts and performance of annual physical inventory.

  • Coordinates and manages personnel activities to ensure appropriate staffing coverage in the department including hiring, on-boarding, training, performance management (annual cycle and special circumstances), workload balancing, and colleague development.

  • Leads Supply Chain Operations Safety Team

  • Responsible for Supply Chain Operations fleet and PIV management inclusive of annual budget development, long-term strategic planning, and asset retirement and replacement process.

  • Responsible for the inbound transportation management including annual budget development, variance reporting, and carrier issue resolution.

  • Responsible for site-wide fuel management including annual budget development, consumption analysis/variance reporting, and fuel access operations.

  • Conducts routine team meetings and shares information with team in a timely and effective manner.

  • Actively engages in colleague development, including timely performance feedback, appraisals and other aspects of the performance management process.

  • Responsible for GMP and governmental regulatory compliance as it relates to documentation practices in the completion of inventory control, receiving and shipping records.

  • Works with internal and external customers to ensure service levels are met through effective communication and problem solving.

  • IMEx Process Centric Team Lead and serves as a change agent for continuous improvement initiatives in regard to compliance, safety, risk minimization, product quality and waste reduction through application of IMEx principles.

  • Participates in and/or leads self-audit. Creates a state of audit readiness by ensuring the warehouses and equipment is maintained and cleaned appropriately to meet required standards.

  • Owns quality investigations and identifies/implements corrective actions resulting from inspections and incident reviews.

  • Assists manager with special projects and other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and prior pharmaceutical, warehouse, transportation and/or manufacturing experience required for this role. Prior experience includes strong knowledge, support and capability related transportation and warehouse methods and practices. Qualifying military experience may also be considered in lieu of industrial experience.  Specifics are as follows: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or Science with a minimum of 5+ years of experience and 3+ years demonstrated leadership capability in a pharmaceutical, warehouse, transportation and/or manufacturing environment

  • Ability to independently manage, organize, problem solve and manage multiple priorities in a fast pace environment.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities and can work with all levels of colleagues.

  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Must possess strong math, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and in written form).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CDL A with Hazmat endorsement

  • Experience participating in audits and interacting with regulatory agencies desired

  • Working knowledge of DOT, FRA and HAZMAT regulations

  • SAP experience 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform office work (desk, computer, phone)

  • Ability to stand upright for several consecutive hours absent of any medical restrictions which could restrict completion of required duties.  

  • Able to stand and frequently walk between production centers/areas to supervise operations.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, carrying and/or lifting up to 25 pounds. 

  • This position works around moving machines, is exposed to temperature changes and is required to wear personal protective equipment in certain areas.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum expectation of 40 hours per week, unless otherwise dictated by management or business needs.

  • Able to work traditional and/or split shifts as well as weekends, holidays and overtime as needed to effectively manage operations and complete production documentation and schedule.

  • May be needed to travel between facilities when necessary.

  • Use of eye protection, gloves and other PPE is required.
