ROLE SUMMARY
The Manager, Architecture, Jr. Solution Architect works with a hands-on approach to architecture. This role often acts as a developer creating prototypes for the Commercial Architecture team. The Commercial Architecture team at Pfizer manages the global technology architecture and strategy for sales, martech, web publishing, mobile applications and more.
This role reports to the Director, Architecture, Platforms & Prototypes that sits within the Pfizer Digital Architecture organization. Digital Architecture leads the strategic efforts creating an enterprise architecture and master plan that ties together our experiences, data, workflows, capabilities, business strategy, applications, integration and back end services in a cohesive and integrated way. The team leads the efforts to architect scalable, modern experiences, platforms and solutions, using next generation enterprise architecture practices and emerging technologies defining efficient and strategic technology roadmaps.
Key accountabilities:
- Creates solution architectures for a wide range of commercial and customer-facing projects
- Creates hands-on proof of concept solutions when and where appropriate to bolster solutions
- Brings new innovative solutions and technology to architectural challenges
- Understands cloud hosting and infrastructure
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Architecture:
- Creates architectural diagrams for projects and programs at Pfizer
- Develops and engineers quick prototypes or proof of concepts meant to act as living illustrations of proposed solutions or to solve small challenges for the rest of the architecture team
- Leads with a customer service mindset and demeanor; quick to offer help to stakeholders.
- Manages relationships with other Digital and Technology Lines that are required for successful architectures.
Strategy & Planning:
- Uses innovative thinking to challenge the status quo and drive identification, quantification and proposal of new agile solutions and tools.
- Looks toward the broadest possible view of an issue/challenge; has broad-ranging personal and business interests and pursuits; can easily pose future scenarios; can think globally; can discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues and project them into the future.
- Communicates a compelling and inspired direction; talks beyond today; talks about possibilities; is optimistic; creates mileposts and symbols to rally support behind the direction; makes the directions sharable by everyone.
Technical Skills:
- Understands the overall technology landscape related to sales enablement, marketing technology, cloud hosting, mobile applications or any combination thereof
- Facilitates exploration of new technologies, and new systems/configurations for applications in scope of this position.
- Understands cloud hosting systems involved (including AWS) and can creatively think through troubleshooting problems.
Communication:
- Develops and sustains constructive partnerships amongst Digital stakeholders
- Writes clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles and can get messages across that have the desired effect.
- Creates demonstration videos and presentations
Matrixed Team Effectiveness:
- Applies skills in a variety of settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, and management; is effective both inside and outside the organization.
- Utilizes influencing, facilitation, meeting management and conflict resolution skills to enhance cross-functional team performance.
- Arbitrates disagreements among solution stakeholders and recommends proposals when needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of combined experience acting as a software engineer or solution architect.
- Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of enabling teamwork in a matrix environment.
- Proven ability to build coalitions and develop strong partnerships across functions.
- Effective diplomacy and influencing skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with junior and senior levels within the organization.
- An “execution mindset” focused on getting things done quickly and simply.
- Experience in delivering and maintaining solutions which must be maintained in accordance with regulatory compliance and Pfizer Digital SOP’s.
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution.
