The ET&M team delivers best in class travel and meetings related services to colleagues, externally sponsored HCPs, and patients in 90+ countries. With the challenges of an evolving travel industry and increasingly complex requirements for virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face meetings, the ET&M organization is on a journey to standardize and simplify, while continuing to deliver effective, fit for purpose services.
The Director, Global Meetings Sourcing will be responsible for the planning and execution of global and regional sourcing strategies and negotiations for Pfizer’s Meetings Category. The highly complex Meetings Category, with annualized spend of more than $500M, requires coordination with business owners, operating units, enabling functions, and the global and regional ET&M teams. This role will seek to develop and implement transformational business and supplier strategies to drive increased value and excellence in meetings execution and service delivery. With the growing need for virtual and hybrid (both virtual and face to face participants) meetings, this role will prioritize the development and implementation of a virtual meeting supplier strategy. This role will also have a significant focus on delivering effective procure to pay solutions to enable a seamless process for the business, stakeholders, and customers.

In addition, this global role requires the ability to successfully navigate through the organization, communicate effectively, escalate as necessary, and build relationships within all levels of the organization.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Category strategy and operational implementation of global and regional strategies
Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, processes, and tools as appropriate. Establish a virtual meetings strategy as a short term (<3 months) priority
Set direction for and guide global governance of regional meetings sourcing to ensure alignment of strategies, standards, and preferred suppliers across ET&M; as needed, work with teams and suppliers to implement across regional meetings sourcing
Advocate for the future model changes supporting purposeful travel and meetings
Seek, identify, and leverage cost savings opportunities to achieve agreed to savings goals
Strengthen and continuously improve market expertise and maintain acumen in meetings and travel categories
Remain current on industry trends, emerging technologies, service offerings, and innovations, business economics, and sourcing best practices that impact the supply market and/or supplier economics
Global meetings sourcing activity and contract negotiation
Serve as subject matter expert to lead global sourcing initiatives, proposal development, options analysis, evaluation, and selection of suppliers and materials to obtain best value
Lead and manage contract negotiations, ensuring price, quality and service targets and standards are achieved
Create, approve, and maintain contracts to ensure terms are supported by both supplier and Pfizer within designated authority limits, ensuring compliance with legislation and the company’s policies and procedures
Work with regional sourcing colleagues and suppliers to lead RFPs and other sourcing events; serve as key escalation point for critical supplier contract negotiations
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
Foster and maintain positive supplier relationships
Develop, implement, and share plans for evaluating and measuring vendor performance of strategic and tactical suppliers through the S&ES SRM process
Partner with operational teams to align duplicative supplier management programs (SRM, SEA), including contractual remediation where necessary
Provide oversight to operational teams to ensure timely delivery and specified quality levels are achieved and when necessary, resolve quantity and/or service issues with appropriate people
Lead efforts to implement new or alternative with existing suppliers; facilitate timeliness of change control process
Work with suppliers’ product management teams on future product enhancements, major upgrades, and new ancillary products
Support efforts to drive down total costs of the global Travel Management Company (TMC) and Meeting Planning Agencies (MPAs)
Meet with finance representative and budget holders regularly to understand spending and budgeting implications for all sourcing initiatives
Business processes and compliance
Ensure category purchasing activity complies with Pfizer’s global policies, procedures, and systems
Support Pfizer’s refreshed Global DEI strategy
Lead and/or participate on ET&M, S&ES, or GBS project teams as required or assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BA or BS required; MBA and/or CIPS/CPM/CPSM or equivalent accreditation preferred
10+ years’ work experience managing complex, cross-functional activities that span various cultures, languages, and time zones
Procurement experience is essential, ideally in a pharmaceutical environment
Strong travel and meetings industry knowledge and relationships and fluent understanding of travel supply chain and industry
Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, travel and meetings industry and highly complex suppliers
Ability to draw strategic insight from analysis and to effectively summarize and present insight based on audience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capabilities, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution; able to communicate business issues and drive alignment on significant or long-term decisions with ET&M, GBS, and BU stakeholders
Ability to draw strategic insight from analysis and to effectively summarize and present insight based on audience
English language fluency
